Foods to Eat to Strengthen Teeth

Posted on 7/4/2022 by Nancy Shiba DDS
Foods to Eat to Strengthen TeethHaving strong teeth can help with your oral health and certain foods can help you achieve strong teeth. An adequate intake of whole grains, fruits, calcium-fortified dairy products, lean meats, and vegetables is necessary for the maintenance of a beautiful smile as well as a sound body.

Green and Black Coffee and Tea

Periodontal health is improved by reducing gum inflammation and preventing the growth of gum disease-causing bacteria using black and green teas and coffees. In unsweetened green teas, there are anti-plaque ingredients. Plaque-causing bacteria are killed or inhibited by polyphenols found in tea and coffee.

Vitamin C and Citrus Fruits

Known for its anti-inflammatory and tissue-repair properties, Vitamin C is a vital nutrient for many people. Citrus and grapefruits, when consumed in moderation, can be beneficial to your dental health.

Vitamin C is essential to maintain the teeth's structural integrity and strength. As a source of vitamin C, citrus fruits such as strawberries and oranges are excellent for oral health because of their high concentrations.

Chocolate

Everyone enjoys a piece of chocolate at the end of a long day. You will be pleased to learn that chocolate with no added sugar can help prevent cavities by suppressing the growth of certain oral germs and preventing plaque from building up on teeth. Dark chocolate includes CBH, a component that has been demonstrated to help harden tooth enamel and reduce the risk of dental decay.

Mushrooms called Shiitake

Shiitake mushrooms contain lentinan, a substance that may help prevent dental caries. Another benefit of eating mushrooms is that they contain antibacterial and antioxidant components.

These compounds may help to keep gum disease at bay. The antioxidants in the mouth and gums also play a significant role in cell regeneration and repair after injury.
