You Will Have a Healthier Mouth if You Eat Produce with Lots of Fiber

You Will Have a Healthier Mouth if You Eat Produce with Lots of FiberEating fiber is important for entire body. The two types of fiber, soluble fiber an insoluble fiber, protect your body from illness. Soluble fiber breaks down in water and forms a substance which helps your body in numerous ways. Insoluble fiber does not breakdown in water, it pushes food and waste through your digestive system. Both kinds of fiber are important. While fiber benefits your overall health, you will also have a healthier mouth if you eat produce with lots of fiber.

Chew Your Produce for Better Oral Health

Eating fiber rich produce is important for your mouth. Some argue that taking fiber supplements offers the same benefits. However, eating produce which contains fiber is much better. These fruits and vegetables are important because your body produces saliva when you chew them. Just the act of chewing is one of the best things you can do for your oral health. Chewing food, especially fruits and vegetables, is good for your teeth as other food particles are removed as you chew the produce. Fiber rich foods are like natural toothbrushes, working to clean your teeth while you eat them. Fiber also helps to keep your enamel in top shape.

What is in Foods with Fiber?

Foods with fiber also contain other nutrients. In fact, fruits and vegetables are packed with vitamin C and vitamin A, potassium, and antioxidants. All these nutrients benefit your oral health.

Call Our Office

It is important to eat good food, and it is also important to have a good oral hygiene routine. Brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes and floss your teeth once a day. Replace your toothbrush three to four times a year. Make sure to prioritize your dental appointments, where we can clean your teeth and assess your oral health. While eating good food is important, keep cleaning your teeth diligently every day.
