Signs That Your Baby Needs Dental Fillings

Some kids have dental caries that destroy their teeth' enamel. Others get exposed to beverages and foods with high sugar levels and acids that cause tooth decay. These instances lead to cavity development.

However, many parents do not think baby teeth cavities are a big deal since they will fall out soon. While this is the case, a pediatric dentist can recommend dental fillings for your kids. Here are signs they need it:

Toothache And Sensitivity

When your kid has cavities, they experience toothaches. The kid will have difficulties chewing or biting food with the affected side. They will also have tooth sensitivity. This sign indicates damaged enamel, which exposes the inner tissues of your tooth.

Dark Spots On the Tooth Enamel

If you fail to treat the cavity promptly, your baby's teeth will develop dark spots. You can view the spots or holes in the enamel. When you notice one of these aspects, visiting a dentist is recommendable. The dentist can suggest a dental filling procedure to save the teeth from further decay.

Cracked Or Chipped Teeth

Does your kid have cracked or chipped teeth? Dental fillings can be a good idea in this situation. If left unfilled, the cracks enhance plaque formation. Food residue will fill the space and offer a ground for bacteria growth. The result can be tooth decay and other dental infections that take time to treat.

Fractured Teeth

Cavities are not the only reason for dental filling. Your kid can suffer a tooth fracture, particularly when they engage in active activities. Fillings can be a desired option to prevent decay and further damage.

While your kid might be having baby teeth, dental filling is necessary. Remember, the baby's teeth will fall out at the age of six. If you have concerns about whether this procedure fits your kid, visit our offices or schedule an appointment with our pediatric dentist for guidance.
