Benefits of Electric Toothbrushes

Posted on 7/10/2023 by Nancy Shiba DDS
Benefits of Electric ToothbrushesBrushing your teeth at least twice every day is an important step in your daily dental routine. Brushing your teeth helps remove plaque that causes decay and infection. With electric toothbrushes, you will not only be able to improve your dental hygiene but also make the entire process much easier. That being said, here are some of the main benefits of electric toothbrushes.

Better At Removing Plaque

One of the major reasons why dentists recommend the use of an electric toothbrush is because it is effective at removing plaque. Studies have proven that electric toothbrushes are superior in removing plaque when compared to manual toothbrushes.

Round Head for Effective Cleaning

Electric toothbrushes usually have rounded heads. This round head is effective in cleaning in between your teeth something that normal brushes do not do. The round shape is also effective in cleaning areas that are difficult to reach.

Effective With Orthodontic Appliances

People with orthodontic appliances such as braces and retainers may benefit from using electric toothbrushes. Studies show electric toothbrushes promote better oral health for people with orthodontic appliances. This is because they are effective at removing plaque, which can be difficult for people with braces and other appliances. Electric toothbrushes offer customized cleaning modes, which can be beneficial to people with braces and other appliances.

Gentle on Gums

Another major benefit of electric toothbrushes is that they do not damage the enamel or hurt the gums. In fact, electric toothbrushes promote overall dental health.

Helps Reduce Waste

Electric toothbrushes also help to reduce waste. For most models, once you wear out the head, all you have to do is to get a replacement. Doing this helps to reduce waste because you do not have to throw away the whole brush. Other models also allow you to recycle at specific facilities while others are made from materials that are environmentally friendly.

While it is important to pick the right toothbrush that will be effective when cleaning your teeth, the type of toothbrush you use is not as important as maintaining good oral hygiene. Therefore, make sure that you brush your teeth at least twice a day, floss daily, and keep up with your dental appointments.
